Anti-capitalist May Day march in Seattle

Story by Joshua Trujillo May 3rd, 2014

Anti-capitalist marchers took to the streets of Seattle on May Day, marching for almost five hours, covering nearly ten miles as they were flanked by Seattle Police officers. After a few scuffles, a bit of pepper spray and a broken Metro bus window, they eventually gathered in Capitol Hill where they lit a trash can on fire and declared victory. Ten people were arrested during the march. You can see complete coverage here.

The evening events were separate from an earlier and larger immigrant and worker right march in Seattle.

The march seemed at points like a roving street party, complete with loud music and even some dancing.
