May Day immigrant, worker rights march

Thousands of people took to the streets in Seattle for the 14th annual May Day March for Immigrant and Worker Rights. The annual peaceful march traveled from Judkins Park to Westlake Park. These photos were published on seattlepi.com. Click here to see full coverage of the protest march.

The march started with fire, smoke and Aztec dancers.

Workers and families came to the march to bring attention to their struggles.

On a record hot day, fruit and bottled water was tossed to the moving mass of people.

The march passed schools, businesses, stopped traffic and ended at Westlake Park where Socialist Seattle City Councilmember Kshama Sawant spoke to the crowd.

Incense was burned as the procession made its way through downtown Seattle.
